So, apparently, there's a difference between the To: and CC: (carbon copy) fields in an email. It's only a social difference, however. 'To' is who the email is directed at. 'CC' is for other people you're sending the email to, when it's not directed specifically at them.
And of course, BCC (blind carbon copy) is to send emails to people without showing everyone each other's email addresses.
