I found a cool-sounding strawberry online called Ogallala. It's a cross between a wild strawberry from the Rocky Mountains, and a domestic strawberry. It's supposed to taste like wild strawberries (which is to say, really good), but it's big like a domestic strawberry. They say it bears twice in the season. Here's a link to where I found it: www.farmerseed.com/store/3504-ogallala-strawberryHas anyone tried it? I'm really curious what you thought of it (the plant, the production, and the taste). Also, has anyone tried Quinault? I saw it at the same store, and it looks pretty interesting to me: www.farmerseed.com/6607-quinault-strawberry

It looks like Quinault is a popular variety in my area, this year. A local greenhouse and The Home Depot both carry it as one of their main varieties. I got one plant from the local greenhouse, as mentioned in another post. Other varieties I've seen for sale this year include All Star, Ozark Beauty, Fort Laramie, and Chandler. Here's a picture from The Home Depot that I took, today:

Here's my Quinault strawberry plant, today, bearing fruit (the fruits are larger than they appear):
