I was at Bimart, today, and I noticed large pods scattered all over the ground that looked just like carob pods (the seeds inside even looked like carob seeds). I'm far north for carob; so, I researched it to find out what they were. I discovered that they were possibly honey locust pods, which look pretty much the same. They're not as thoroughly edible as carob, though, I've read (perhaps just certain inner parts of the pods). I think animals eat the pods, however.
I didn't realize honey locust pods were so different from black locust pods.
