A local friend gifted me a whole bunch of horseradish roots (I'm not sure what kind). As a precaution against pathogens, I decided to zap it and then give it some probiotics afterward, much as I did with the Thanksgiving and Christmas cactus cuttings. I used all three frequencies of my Z4EX; at least 20 minutes per frequency, starting with 15hz, following by 2.5khz, followed by 30khz. The probiotics include lactic acid bacteria and acetic acid bacteria. We had only planned on growing one or two plants, but it looks like we'll have enough to start a market pretty soon, if they all take. Here's a picture of some of them being zapped (there's about twice this much): [HASH]electroculture

Okay, I just finished planting all the horseradish. I think there were eighteen plants (one or two were long and I had to cut them into smaller pieces to fit in the bowl in order to zap them). I put them in three different locations. Hopefully they will all prosper. It was wet and muddy (and it's raining now; it's been a wet early spring—as has historically been the case, but not necessarily recently). Anyway, I'm pretty excited. I want to eat the greens (and of course the horseradish tubers themselves). I also want to lacto-ferment horseradish with some vinegar (mayhap with hot peppers) and see what happens. There were plenty of worms in the soil in a lot of the spots where I was planting the horseradish.

Two horseradish plants seem to be about to sprout up through the ground (the ground is breaking like something is growing up).

Three of the horseradish plants have sprouted through the ground, and at least one new one is breaking ground. We're planning to dig up one of those plants and give it to a relative tonight (when the wasps are less active).
This, so far, is more successful than the experience where I zapped garlic and directly planted it (but maybe that's because I didn't give the garlic probiotics afterward). cayman s turbo 0 60[HASH]wasp
