Containter mint without drainage survived the winter

I looked at a container we had mint in last year and discovered that it survived just fine. the container doesn't have drainage, and it rained a lot earlier this spring (so, it was probably sitting in water, potentially frozen water, for quite a while).

I think this is [HASH]spearmint, but I'm not certain.
