So, the other day, one of our sprouting horseradish plants got broken off at the stem above the ground (it was a flower stalk). So, I zapped some water at 2.5khz with a Z4EX for five or ten seconds, and then put the stem in the water to see if it would root. I had the plant in a windowsill in a room with a fan going. A few days later, it did! And, my original horseradish plant is growing back. Here's a picture where you can see some of the roots at the bottom of the stem. There are more roots further up the stem, though: Anyway, the water started to cloud; so, I guess five or ten seconds wasn't a long enough zapping to prevent that, but it rooted! :) This cutting came from one of the roots that I zapped before planting (one that had a few short leaves on top). I transplanted that cutting outside, today. It's cool and rainy and is supposed to be that way for a while. So, I imagine it should be fine.

On Saturday, the cutting was wilting, but it wasn't rainy that day. Today, it's rainy again and it looks chipper.
We have nine horseradish plants growing outside (counting this cutting), currently. Potentially nine more could sprout.

Here's the rooted flower stalk cutting now: It sprouted new leaves up from the ground. It's growing as well as those from tubers, IMO. It works! I'm very grateful for miraculous results of experiments like this.

So, since the flower stalk rooted so well, I figured I'd try rooting a leaf in water! Let's see if it works. Here's a picture of a leaf I removed from a plant, today: Edit: Soon after I wrote this post, I zapped the water for 22 seconds with the 2.5khz setting of my Z4EX. I removed the leaf first, and then put it back when I was finished zapping the water. I wasn't careful to remove the banana plugs afterward (so it might have zapped it at 30khz for much less than a second as I turned it off). I obtained the leaf from one of the tuber-grown plants in the front yard (the northwest garden plot). It was from the northmost of the three plants. [HASH]electroculture

The leaf is shriveled up and is almost dead, but those [HASH]aloe pups behind it are looking good! There are no roots on the horseradish leaf stem, and the stem appears that it might be rotting where it was cut. So, I think it's safe to say that rooting horseradish leaves in water is not the easiest thing to do, if it can be done. My next experiment may be to attempt rooting [HASH]chicory and/or [HASH]sorrel and/or [HASH]kohlrabi flower stalks in water (since the horseradish flower stalk worked and all). upload imageNote that the aloe is a large, fast-growing kind (not Aloe vera).

The horseradish flower stalks I gave to a friend didn't root, apparently. I found out, today. I'm not sure if she has soft water or not, nor which water she used. She said she changed the water every day, but the stalks dried up or some such.
I wonder if my having zapped the water for a few seconds influenced maters at all. I didn't change the water for mine, either.
