I ate a fruit from the store-bought Early Girl F1 plant this afternoon, and assessed it. It never ceases to amaze me how this tomato and its F2s and F3s taste different every year we've grown them, lately.
The one I had today had a hint of the really old EG taste (think the '90s), but it was sweet. I've never had a truky sweet EG before. It was good. I think black plastic contributes to sweetness in tomatoes the first half of the season.
